Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Social Trivia handles when you host or join a game, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

We collect the name you enter, your questionnaire answers, trivia answers, scores, readiness state, game codes, and identifiers needed to operate and resume a game. Your answers may include personal information you choose to provide, so avoid entering secrets or information you do not want used in the game.

We also record game events and answer-submission data used to understand reliability and improve questions and distractors. Connection and security information, such as an IP address, may be processed by our server and hosting infrastructure for delivery, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.

How we use information

  • To create games, reconnect players, generate trivia, and calculate scores.
  • To show names, answers, and results to people participating in the same game.
  • To secure the service, rate-limit abusive activity, and diagnose failures.
  • To analyze usage and improve gameplay, prompts, and generated answer choices.

We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

When information is shared

People in your game can see your entered name and may see or infer your answers through questionnaire readiness, trivia questions, answer reveals, and results. Hosts can remove players and control whether new players may join.

Information may also be processed by infrastructure providers that host the application, database, backups, and network services. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, or as part of a transfer of the service to a new operator.

Browser storage

Social Trivia stores a game code, player identifier, entered name, and secure resume token in your browser's local storage so you can reconnect. This is not advertising tracking. Leaving or closing a game clears or invalidates the active session, and you can clear local storage through your browser settings.

Retention

Analytics events and analysis copies of submitted answers are normally deleted after 90 days. Email addresses and phone-number-like text receive basic redaction in those analysis copies, but other personal content may remain.

Gameplay records—including names, games, scores, and raw questionnaire responses—are currently retained after a game or room expires. A final deletion period has not yet been adopted. We are reviewing shorter retention, pseudonymization, and aggregation as the service develops.

Your choices and rights

You may choose not to provide an answer, although a complete questionnaire is required to participate in trivia. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain uses of personal information.

A dedicated privacy-request address and the operator's formal identity still need to be published here. This starter policy should not be treated as a final legal notice until that information and the applicable request process are added.

Children

Social Trivia is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, notify the operator once the privacy-request channel is published so it can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.

Security and international processing

We use measures such as HTTPS, restricted production services, database access controls, hashed resume credentials, input validation, and rate limiting. No system is completely secure. Infrastructure may process information in countries other than your own, subject to the provider's safeguards and applicable law.

Policy changes

We may update this policy as the service or its data practices change. The effective date at the top will be revised when material changes are published.
